The work includes the construction of an 850m long steel sheet pile river wall, demolition of a concrete storage building, remediation, drainage installation and highway realignment.

The defences will ensure that the development of the Strood Riverside area and former Civic Centre sites are protected into the future.

Enabling works started in April 2018 with project completion planned for April 2019.
