RAF Brize Norton

Overview
The project involved the demolition of existing building infrastructure, utilities and service diversions and the construction of a new steel framed aircraft simulator building within the secure line of the airfield.

The building – constructed on behalf of the RAF training provider Thales, combines 2 full flight simulators to train RAF pilots, specialist workstation, cockpit simulator, suite of computer-based training equipment and an accommodation wing.

Planancy Role
In conjunction with the initial Primavera P6 Tender Programme, Planancy was commissioned to provide a 3D model showing the various stages of construction from ground preparation through to building fit-out and site landscaping.

Outcomes
Using the Sketch-up software package, the 3D visualisation provided an additional monitoring tool throughout the construction phase through to handover in June 2011.
