Windsor Line: Packages 9 and 10

Overview
In 2011, Network Rail engaged VolkerFitzpatrick on a design and build contract on its Windsor Line.

The project included platform extensions and modifications, track realignments and improvement works such as signalling repositions.

The works, which were centred around a number of railway stations in the Wessex Region were completed early in 2012.

Planancy Role
Planancy was engaged by the main contractor, VolkerFitzpatrick to produce a variety of resourced and cost loaded programmes using Primavera P6 and Excel for work at each of the railway stations.

Outcomes
The programmes were compiled from scoping documents provided by the client and built around key possession dates. They varied in their complexity from Clause 14 and as-built, to commissioning and possession programmes and more detailed hourly programmes for individual weeks.

Additional services provided by Planancy included programme updates based on changes to the scope, work breakdown structures, earned value reports and dashboard presentations for each of the sites. Concept visualisation techniques were also successfully employed to demonstrate the stage works at many of the stations.
